Infancy
fearful of movement
cry & pull away when held or hugged
fearful when held back for feeding
cry most of the day - look like colic but not
have trouble sleeping - sleep/wake cycles are off
Toddler Years
tantrum very easily
great difficulty with transitions
problem staying calm in place with lots of inputs
motor delays in sitting up, standing or moving in a way that is safe
problems manipulating toys effectively without using too much force
Preschool Years
difficulty with skills such as:
dressing or feeding themselves
learning to ride a tricycle
throwing toys rather than playing with them
School Age Years
physical skills, dressing & eating abilities can still be a concern
problems in using of crayons & pencils
handwriting & drawing problems
difficulty in motor planning & carrying out an action
Adolescence & Adult Years
difficulty in motor planning & carrying out an action - making sports problematical
social withdrawal due to lack of self-esteem
anxieties, phobias or depression can result from continuous dealing with sensory overload and poor sensory modulation
