CAD/CAM 3D PRINTING
3D PRINTER
DEFINITION
- A machine allowing the creation of a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many thin layers of a material in succession.
- The process works by laying down thin layers of material in the form of liquid or powdered plastic, metal or cement, and then fusing the layers together.

HOW IT WORK
Modelling
-
Slicing
The 3D model is divided into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers ( series of thin layers ) by using a slicing software.
Transfer
The sliced file is transferred to the 3D printer via USB, SD or internet
Printing
- Once the printer receives the data, the removable bioplastic spools will be pulled through a tube.
- The extruding molten plastic is through a tiny nozzle that moves around precisely under computer control.
- It prints one layer, waits for it to dry, and then prints the next layer on top until a fully formed structure is build
