POPULATION AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Population
Including all people or items with the characteristics one wish to understand
There is very rarely enough time or money to gather information from everything in a population, the goals become finding a representative sample of that population
Sampling Procedures
3) Select a sampling procedure
4) Define the sample size
5) Select the sample units
6) Collect data from the sampled
Sampling Technique
Chosen in any type of research are purposive in nature because we usually approach the sampling problem with a specific plan in mind
Non-probability and probability sampling
The samples are drown from the population without any known non zero change of being included
Non-Probability Sampling
Convenience Sampling
Purposive Sampling
Judgmental Sampling
Expert sampling
Quota Sampling
Heterogeneity Sampling
Snowball Sampling
Probability Sampling
Simple Random Sampling
Stratified Random Sampling
Systematic Sampling
Cluster Sampling
Multi-stage Sampling
1) Define the population
2) Identify the sampling frame
