A place like Colorado is marginally more expensive in all categories except housing which is 170% more expensive than Ohio. While this may pose a hurdle i dont believe it is not achieveable
Bestplaces shows Colorado to cost about double ~50.5% more than Ohio. however this is in the city and prices can be cheaper in other less metropolitan areas.
Glassdoor says a prop maker brings in an average of $44,000 a year, however this number can vary greatly due to several factors such as quality, reputation, and wether you work freelance or salary for a company.

Life long learner
My skills as a machinist can be honed with practice and entering competitions. I used to do weekly photoshop contests when i was in high school and that helped expand
my mind on what was possible.
I dont intend on getting another degree but attending trade shows is a good way to keep up with how your industry is progressing
I enjoy making and machining things so naturally i spend my free time researching and learning new techniques like watching youtube videos on restoration.

Me at work
I want a job that has flexibility and allows me to work at my own pace for large projects rather than daily tasks that need to be done by the end of the day.
Creativity is a must, i work best by being able to find solutions to problems that may have multiple solutions. not just doing a set task, i enjoy the task of solving.
I prefer to work alone if the project is singular such as editing a video, however working with a group is beneficial if the projects has multiple branches that can be combined later
