Data suggests that those who seek and receive MAiD tend to be, on average, more wealthy, urban-dwelling and have strong family support systems than those who die through natural causes (Laupacis 2020; Health Canada 2019). Therefore, we must seek to better understand why this is, and how to make the choice of MAiD more accessible by those who are not as advantaged, but wish to die in this way. People dying within faith-based institutions, and how their right to the same level of MAiD access should also be considered. (Laupacis 2020)
