- - - - They see the evidence given, and as outside observers, don't have any emotional or personal stake in the outcome, so theoretically should be able to make the better decision

        I don't really know much about this, but I read that there are certain parts in DNA where blocks of it repeat, and you can count the repeats. The more places you can count it from, the fewer people have that exact set of numbers, and you can process of elimination it.
  - - - Everyone's fingerprints are unique to them, so if you can find fingerprints that don't belong to anyone who would have previously touched the object, you can use that to find the person who belongs to the fingerprint
        
        For example, if there is fingerprints of a suspect on the handle of a baseball bat used in a robbery or something, that points directly to them
    - - They don't KNOW that the person committed the crime, but if they were seen in the place of the crime around the time of the crime, they're more likely to have committed it compared to, say, someone who was seen in a grocery store or something around the same time.
    - - It's never a perfect rendition, because its based on people remembering things, but if they had very specific or unique features, maybe they're missing a front tooth or something, it can rule out possible suspects
        
        Sketches of a crime scene should have the important details, like if there was a body and where it was, or if there's blood where that was. It's kind of like a regular art sketch, you just have to get down the main point, and you don't include any unnecessary details.
    - - Sometimes people have previous opinions on a crime, and instead of looking at the facts, which are the conclusive things that are absolutely true, such as "Gravity makes things fall down" they base their judgement off of what they thing, usually trying to bend facts and evidence to fit their point of view.
