Alignment
how elements of an interface are in line with each other and what this tells the user
Repetition
the common appearances of certain styles and designs in an interface
Contrast
the statement made by the difference of two components when placed near each other
Hierarchy
the dominance of some elements over others, usually emphasising their importance
Balance
the sense of symmetry of certain components in an interface in the eyes of a user
Proximity
the distance between elements and what this syas about their relation and what they have or don't have in common
Harmony
an interpretation of proximity and the valuable meaning created by components as a whole that are complimentary across the interface
Elements of Visual Communication
Space
space between components in a user interface
Colour and Tone
the specific colour of elements and what this says about them
Line, Shape, Texture and Form
how certain components of an interface look and how they visually communicate with the user
Proportion and Scale
the sizing of elements in contrast to each other and how they look when placed in close proximity
