What do you think are the artists’ intentions in portraying people the way they do in the 2 paintings? Do you think the artists were successful in their intentions? Why or Why not? : :
hetty: the artist who painted the first picture was successful in portraying a calm and happy scene that the women and the man show no worries in life due to the relaxation that is shown on their faces in the painting, and with the bright colours to give an atmosphere that is care free. however, in the second photo, the artist portrayed the life of these workers well due to the colour which shows that they are not completely happy with their lives and use of space which shows that the place is crowded and uncomfortable for them
Ryan: the first painting was portraying a very peaceful scene. The soft pastel like colours used to paint the artwork is telling me that it is supposed to be a very relaxing. Even the woman posing is looking care-free and simply unaware of her surroundings. The man looks happy being able to paint the woman and both are enjoying their time.The second artwork gives a strong impression due to the clothing worn by soldiers in the artwork. There seems to be signs of conflict,stress and urgency given off with the positions of the soldiers.
izzan: the first painting gives off the peaceful atmosphere and freedom of life.The background scenery and space between different objects made the artwork look comfortable.On the other hand,the other painting gives off the idea of tough life.The crowded room looks like the environment was loud while some others only wanted to eat peacefully.The darkness of the room makes it look like an uncomfortable place to be in.
I think the artist is trying to portray the living conditions between the fortunate and unfortunate.
Jorin: The first painting potrays a peaceful and calm scene. I think the artist is successful in potraying a calm and relaxing as the artist uses soft and bright colours. The woman seems to be relaxed from her expression. The man looks happy that he can paint the woman Both seems to be enjoyin their time while having tea . i think that in the second painting, the artist want to give an impression the life of the
Valerie: The artist of the first painting want to make the art piece calm and happy. I think they succeeded as the lady looks calm and peaceful and there isn't bad things going on around the painting. The artist for the second piece wanted to make it dark and gloomy to reflect how workers felt as their job is not easy and they are very stress .from work. They succeeded as there isn't a lot of emotions and everyone seems sad.
Khate: The first painting seemed to convey the peaceful and harmonious lives of indigenous people.This can be seen from what seemed to be batik type of clothing that the woman being painted on was wearing. While the second painting seemed to depict hard life of the workers.
Wei En:i feel that the artist intention for the first painting is to show that in indonesia life is very peaceful in the mountains and likes to relax and paint there.I feel that the artist was successful as the colour choice and focus of the painting depicts that the environment in the painting is very calm.In the second painting,the artist intention is to show the tough life of the workers.I feel that it is successful as the colours,painting style and use of contrast shows the gloomy feeling

Wei En:in the first picture,it shows a lady posing for a man who is painting a portrait of her.The lady is wearing batik and looks like the place of the painting is located in Indonesia.It depicts a very calming vibe as the colours and paint strokes give of a calming feeling.However,in the second painting,the people/workers are eating silently in a canteen and it gives of a very solemn environment.The painting depicts a very tough life of the workers as it can be seen from the expressions of the workers

in the second painting, i see a very large
group of men eating together in a small area and looks like they are in a camp of some sort
Jorin: In the first painting, I see a woman posing for a man who is either painting or sketching her by the mountains. The woman seems calm as the colours used around her are bright blue, yellow which represents calmness, peace. In the second painting, there is a group of workers in the canteen eating together. As the colours on the workers and the surroundings are dark , the environment looks gloomy as if the life there is tough
izzan: In both artworks,the people look very calm and the environment is lively and loud .In the first painting,I see a crowd casually sharing food and eating together. There are some others who are guiding and assisting the ones eating.The people are wearing a particular uniform too.In the second artwork,there is a woman being painted by a man.The view and enviroment looks peaceful and quiet.

in the first artwork there is a person dressed up for a self portrait.it seems like a lively setting as the background is calm and the colours used are bright. the situation seemed very formal as theres tea served to recreate the environment of welcoming a guest respectfully
in the second artwork, i see lots of people gathering most probably during break hours after long hours of work.they seemed very close to one another. their outfit is similar which shows that they are working, the colours are dull which may represent some dark times hidden behind their bond with one another. it can also represent the past as its like a olden days setting
Ryan: The first artwork shows a very lively and colourful setting. Bright colours were used and it brings the painting alive with ease.This particular artwork resembles malaysia's countryside.
The second artwork is the total opposite of the first one.This artwork definately gives off a 'going to war' vibe and is honestly giving me weird vibes.
Valerie: In the first painting I see a lady getting her portrait painted by a man by the mountains. She looks very calm as her eyes are close. The background is mountains and there are flowers around. For the second painting I see workers sitting in an area eating. They look very depress and there is not a lot of emotions.Is very crowded are there are people congested in the background. The colors are more bright and vibrant for the first painting but the second painting is dark and ominous
Daphne. In the first artwork i can see a lady posing for a portrait being drawn of her but shes topless. they are sitting by the mountainside and there are many flowers and plants around them. There is a teapot and two teacups in front of them on a coffee table. The lady can be seen wearing batik printed pants. The vibe is very tranquil and the environment seems very relaxed and calm. this can be seen from them drinking tea and the calm environment around them. The second artwork showcases many workers gathering around a long table in a canteen enjoying their meals. They seem to be chatting with each other. the painting gives off a very lively vibe.
saizurah: in the first one, theres a women posing as the guy is painting her. The environment and surrounding looks very bright that is filled with mountains and flowers and so on. As for the painting, it is filled with people and the place looks very dark dull. There are not many colours to it which makes the painting look sad and makes it look like as if the people in there are somehow being forced to work there.
yueyun: the picture looks like the canteen is filled with workers eating "cai fan" known as mixed rice, they look hungry and they looks like they have good relationship as the guy kneeling on the chair resting his hand on someone's shoulder.
yueyun: the first picture looks like someone is painting a women in indonesia as they are wearing batiks designed clothings and the hairstyle that indonesian women would usually go to and the flower on her hair emits a indonesian vibe. With the usage of cold colours, its most likely to be painted by asian as western use a warmer tone of colour.
Khate: In the first painting theres a woman being painted with the mountains in the background. It gives a sense of calmness content as the woman peacefully relax on the chair. On the second paintingthe there is a sense of rush and chaos as the men in the painting crowd on the table and eat their food while some people wait for their tables and crowd around the place. Some seemed to be rushing as the table looked messy with their food.
andy: the first picture depicts a topless woman with a man making a potrait of a woman, with mountains. The colours are bright and the sky is a clear blue possibly to show a its quite peaceful. The second picture shows many people eating in a canteen. The atmosphere is quite dark as the colors used are dark. However, the workers in front have a bright colour in contrast. The canteen is quite packed with many people having many facial expressions, it gives of a mixed feeling
In the first painting , both of them looks very relaxed as the painter slowly paints the potrait of the woman in it .The blue scenery behind them gives off a very cooling vibe and aura . The second painting gives off a very busy scene , their facial expressions are more clear and it looks like they were conversing with each other .Some people are even eating .

daphne: i think this work is a recreation of Artist and Model by Liukang and it uses very bright colours and gives off a very peaceful vibe. the artwork has bright lighting as well.
Ryan: It looks like a recreation of Artist and Model by Liu Kang. Similar as in the light colours used,giving me relaxing vibes.
tiara: i think this is a recreation of the artist because it uses light colours and the scenery gives off a very calm vibes.
izzan: the warm and light colours used were effective in showing the relaxed and comfortable feeling through the artwork
Wei En: My artwork is about the recreation of Artist and Model as I liked the peaceful and calming vibe by using colours.
I learned that the contrast between warm and cool colours can let the viewer focus on the main focus.
Wei En: I feel that the main focus is the tribe as the colour of the orange brown stands out from the blue and green.The lighting of the sky makes me think that the setting of the painting is at dawn
daphne:i think this artwork gives off a very tranquil, relaxed vibe. the lighting makes the artwork seem as if it was taken during the sunset.
Ryan: Artist might just want the viewers to be relaxed. The sunset makes me relaxed like knowing the day will end soon.
izzan: our [ and tiara] artwork was about the tribe communicating and
bonding together during sunset.The contrast in colours gives off harmony and peace.
I learnt that the contrast in colours used can define the main focus of the artwork.I also learnt that it can create space and distance.
tiara and izzan : the artwork is about the peacfeulness and bonding times during the sunset. The sky should give off calm and relaxing vibes.
Valerie: It looks like there is darkness surrounding the artwork as the only light part is the sky. Is made out of mostly cool colours and there are many shades of blue.

i think this artwork has very neutral lighting where its not too dark but not very bright either. it uses more of pastel colours and the colours are not exactly very bright or dark

izzan: the pastel background gives off a rather aesthetic vibe .The torn pictures were also pleasingly pretty and blend well with the each other,

ryan: my artwork depicts a scene in the middle east. The background represent the dessert slowly transitioning into a purple sunset in an abstract manner.
i learned that colours does not really mean feelings but can also represent objects with the composition of many colours.
Ryan: The shape of the origami resembles the human lungs. The colours might be about health? For e.g smoking will affect your lungs [blue=dying, yellow= striving]
tiara: I think the cranes symbolise peacefulness, the colours are are both warm and cool
Wei En: there is 2 origami crane that is linked by a thread.One is in a bright yellow while the other is dull blue colour.I think it symbolizes that there is a link between the 2 cranes
daphne: my work represents how the paper cranes symbolise peace and harmony. the yellow paper crane represents happiness and all the good times you have experienced. the blue paper crane represents all the sadness and sorrow and all the negative things you have faced. the string ties both of them together and represents how you can never feel true happiness without experiencing sadness and vice versa.

this looks very depressing and saddenning. it can be seen with the two silhouettes sitting on some branch with a dark background like theyre mourning for some one.

saizurah: i feel that the artwork looks sad due to the two poeple sitting surrounded by darkness but at the same time , i feel that the bright colours surrounding it is trying to cover up the fact that it is saddening
KHATE:I think it meant to show distance through lightings. This can be seen from how nearer object are darker than farther objects.Thus giving a sense of space and distance. The elements placed on the artwork seemed to be lacking almost as if there's a lazy sense depicted in the artwork as they stare at the scenery before them.

Jorin: I think that it is meant to differentiate into two different lightings due to the difference in colours.

hetty: i think the artwork gives off a dark and eerie vibe due to the black background and the scenery and an ice person that is posing in a way to show they are sad or bored or tired. i think the artwork is about a man who is tired and is viewing the scenery over him

Valerie: there is a guy sitting by a mountain which is darker than the rest of the things there, Does that mean that is a happy guy hiding his dark side behind him.
I meant to draw the man at the canteen as he looked like he was the focal point of the picture and I also showed the darkness and light.
