3 YEAR OLD'S NORMAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT 7/9/20 ARG
GROSS MOTOR DEVELOPMENT
Includes the large muscles of the body
Those help the 3 year old to coordinate movements.
At this age the toddler is able to run, jump, and play.
A 3 year old child is able to stand on 1 foot
They are able to walk up and down the stairs
They can ride a tricycle
They can walk on tiptoe
Include: Arms, and legs
FINE MOTOR DEVELOPMENT
This one involve movement of the smaller muscles in the body
Include: hands, fingers, and wrists
allows children to perform small task
Help with brushing teeth, eating, writing, and getting dressed
With those skills toddlers can coordinate movements required to grab small objects
They can use the scissors without help
SPEECH/LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
At this age children are able to use around 200 words
They can use all vowels
Child is understood at a 75%
They are able to use pronouns referring to himself or herself
They start using plurals
They can ask and answer questions
They can follow and understand up to 2 directions
They still use their fingers to tell they age
Love to listen to books and thats how they learn more vocabulary
SOCIAL/COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
They can find things
They can sort shapes
They can build towers with blocks
They start communicating with other children
Playing is a good way for them to learn and socialize
They develop their sensory, preoperational, concrete, and formal operational stages
They love to play and see other kids playing
