NAPOLEONIC WARS
Strategies
Napoleonic tactics are characterized by intense drilling of the soldiers, speedy battlefield movement, combined arms assaults between infantry, cavalry, and artillery, relatively small numbers of cannon, short-range musket fire, and bayonet charges
Napoleon revolutionized military tactics and swept aside many of the assumptions of warfare of the ancient regime. He exploited the use of mass conscription and consistently sought to inflict a swift and decisive blow to his enemies
Napoleon had strategic vision and a great tool in his army to achieve his aims. Many of his battles were won in advance due to superior maneuvering and gaining a positional advantage. Napoleon understood and used artillery better than any of his opponents
Napoleon outworked many of his opponents and was able to move troops much faster than before in Europe. He saw to every detail in office and on the battlefield, worked incredibly long hours without sleep before and during battles, and won people over as an inspiring leader and battlefield orator.
