REFINING
Distillation
Distillation is the process of separating components of a mixture based on different boiling points.

Liquation
Liquation is a metallurgical method for separating metals from an ore or alloy. The material must be heated until one of the metals starts to melt and drain away from the other and can be collected.

Electrolytic Refining
Electrolytic refining. Electrolytic refining: It is the process of refining of metal in which impure metal is made the anode and a thin strip of pure metal is made the cathode. A solution of metal salt is used as an electrolyte.

Zone Refining
a method of purifying a crystalline solid, typically a semiconductor or metal, by causing a narrow molten zone to travel slowly along an otherwise solid rod or bar to one end, at which impurities become concentrated.

Cinematographic methods
this method is based on the principle that different components of a mixture are differently absorbed on an absorbent the mixture is put in the liquid or gaseous medium which is moved through the absorbent. Different component are absorbed at different levels on the column later the absorbed components are removed by using the suitable solvent

Vapour phase refining
In this method, impure metal is first converted into its volatile compound by heating with a chemical reagent at lower temperature. After this, the volatile compound is decomposed by heating to give the pure metal.
