umofia clan - a lower nigerian tribe that is a part of consortium of nine villages including o's village - IGUEDO

defeated Amanlise the cat in a wrestling contest- A was undefeated for seven years.

unoka - father of Onkonkwo - very different from him

fear at the sight of blood and always borrowing and losing money

a skilled flute player and immense love for music and language

has three wives and eight children and each of his wife has her own hut.

has a barn full of yams, a shrine for his ancestors and his own hut called obi

ikemefuna

a noted orator - ogbuefi ezuego announces that someone from the village of mbaino has murdered the wife of Ugbuefi Udo

in return, they demanded a virgin and a young man or else a war will take place

handed over a virgin wife and a 15 yr old boy - the boy was then handed for over to O for safekeeping and instructions which he handed to his first wife

feared weakness - a trait that he associates with his father and women

unoku agbala - another person in the clan, 'agbala' was refered to women as well as men who had not taken any title which is what O resented

driven by his hatred for his father and fear of ending up like him

in order to avoid traits like his father, o acts violently and has a bad temper - this was his definition of masculinity (anger, success in the convetional sense and dominance)

nawakibie - the person with whom o borrowed 800 yam seeds

knows impressive skills like making flutes from bamboo straws and setting taps for bush rodents, also knew stories that ni children had heard before

grows fond of ikemefuna but doesn't show his emotions as he associates feelings like affection with weakness/ feminity
