To capture the research problems, select a topic and then construct a research problem within a topic
The process of constructing a research problem involves a lot of back & forth adjustments

to make the topic researchable it must be turned into a research question

the past literature is an important source for research ideas
the literature is consulted to identify a research problem, to plan sampling, formulate questions & choose statistical test&used in discussion on research finding

Searching the literature
one particular useful source is academic review
recent research journal also can help to generate new idea about latest research for that particular area
reports, some books, also can be used
newspaper & popular reading also can help
Brainstorming
define your problem
ask for suggestions, relating to the problem
record all suggestion, observing the rules
review all the suggestion & explore what is meant by each
analyse the list of suggestions & decide which appeal to you most as research ideas and why?
Basic criteria for choosing the topic
does it interest you?
how much do you know about it already?
how difficult is it likely to be?
ASPECTS:
a. What is theoretical gap - represents the macro & micro perspectives of the issue from the academic work of the scholars, researchers & other writers
b. What is empirical gap - read textbook
c. What is practical gap - represents the timely aspect of the issue in the present situation
d. Example of good statement of problem - from internet
Criteria for a good research problem
has not been investigated before
existing theories regarding a topic of study do not discover a problem that you want to study
motivate your interest personally or professionally
the previous research findings have not established conclusive findings
