Keeping warm whilst eating when hiking for more than 1 day
Requirements
Small so that it doesn't take up room in the hikers backpack
Lightweight so it doesn't slow the hiker down when it is not being used
Safe
It must be stable as it would be heating hot food/water
Must be large enough to fit a small pan or heat a good amount of water.

Advantages
They have a wide base so are very sturdy
The flame and gas are covered by an aluminium cover for heat protection
Aluminium means that it is relatively light weight
It can cook water or food
It is large enough to fit a pan
It is easy to ignite in poor conditions
Disadvantages
The aluminium is a poor cooking surface as food is more prone to cooking sticking to it
They use LPG gas so are not sustainable
It takes up a lot of room
Camping stove
Advantages
It can fit roughly any sized pan
They are easy to ignite in wet and windy conditions
It cooks food evenly
It is similar to cooking in a kitchen so doesn't require much skill/understanding
Disadvantages
It is large
It is heavy
They run off of LPG gas
Jetboil
Advantages
It heats up water very quickly
You can cook sealed food packets in it
It is relatively small and lightweight
Doesn't require any cleaning
They are easy to ignite even in poor conditions
Disadvantages
It uses an unrenewable source of energy (LPG gas)
It requires for you to also carry the gas which is extra weight
It is quite tall so it isn't very sturdy
