Commonly used method especially in studies relating to behavioral sciences whereas surveys emphasize verbal responses; observation studies emphasize and allow for the systematic recording of nonverbal behavior.

Observation can be conducted on nearly any subject matter, and the kinds of observations you will do depend on research question.
The researcher does keep in mind things like:
- What should be observed?
- How the observations should be recorded? / How to accuracy of observation can be ensured?
7 phenomena are observable:
- Physical actions
- Verbal behavior
- Expressive behavior
- Spatial re;ations and locations
- Temporal patterns
- Physical objects
- Verbal and pictorial records.
Process of Observation
