Digitally Aided Education, Using the Students' Own Electronic Gear by…
Advantages
-
-
Larger schools who are using B.Y.O.T (Bring Your Own Technology) are helping smaller schools implement this idea

Surprising results

Commonly used devices were iPhones, iPod Touches, and Android phones and tablets

My Opinions
B.Y.O.T. is inevitable. Schools need to accept that students would rather use familiar devices than ones the school provides
Schools should always provide devices to those who cannot afford their own devices or prefer ones purchased from the schools. Options are necessary.
Students will most likely use their devices to complete coursework while at school. Teachers need to teach students about time management and preventing distractions on those devices
My five year old already knows how to fully run both the iPad and the Kindle Fire we own. She loves these devices and is comfortable with them. They are "hers" to use to play ABC Mouse. Familiarity is necessary to facilitate learning.
Disadvantages
-
-
-
Schools run the risk of trusting that students will use their devices in a professional way by changing longtime standing policies on devices in schools
