Contex: Feedom writers takes place after the LA riots with gang violence being at an all time high. A integration program has changed Woodrow Wilson High School from a strict academia to being the fight club of racially varied teenager all due to gang violence. Due to the disadvantage from family background the new English teacher Mrs Gruwell makes it her mission to help them have the same advantage as other kids.
LA riots
Twenty five years ago this week was the day of the brutal police beefing of Rodney king. Four LSPD police officers 3 of them white were in a high speed persuit of an African American Man, when the police pulled over Rodney king they began to savagely beet Rodney all of this was caught on camera. Soon the video was broadcast into home s all across America and world wide.
Enraged in fury and anger due to endless racial discrimination and inequality the Balck community of America spilled out onto the streets, people were rioting looting and setting things on fire, even the two biggest LA gangs ( The crips and the Blood ) came together to stand against racism.

Marcus

Marcus is a African American teenager ho lives on the streets as his mum kicked him out of the house for his gang affiliation. When Marcus was a kid his friend accidentally shot him self in the head and Marcus was wrongfully a rested ever since he has been in and out of juvenile detention. Marcus is often recruiting young teens, he doesn’t like the gang life and wants to leave.
Sindy
Sindy is a Cambodian Reffugee that is gang affiliated. She acts tuff and strong maybe the reasons she is like that is because it seems like her father has tried to beat her and her mother, Sindy says that her father lost his dignity in the war and feels he needs to take it out on Sindy and her family. Throughout the movie we soon learn that Sindy is in a rival gang against Evas gang. In the movie Sindy is shopping at the local corner store she was there with her boyfriend when a gang rival tries to shoot someone else in the store and misses and killed Sindys boyfriend.

Eva
Eva is young Hispanic gang affiliated girl who believes that you have to defend your own no matter what. Eva has a instant disrespect for white people as when she was a child she watched her father be wrongly convicted of the shooting of a rival gang member, she instantly hates white people as the cops that arrested were white. Soon in the film Eva is faced with her boyfriend shooting a rival gang member right in front of her,Eva soon goes to court as someone has been wrongfully convicted of the crime that her boyfriend did, Eva has to decide between snitching her boyfriend or the their boy.

The film freedom riders it fresh after the beating of Rodney King and after the LA riots due to this gang violence at an all time high segregating all forms of racial society’s forming the big principle of racial injustice. The freedom riders film exposure problems of racial injustice in society all people-students parents and teachers all contribute to this presence.
One of the big forms of Injustice in the film is the the very prominent factor of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
