Verb Phrases
Consist of a main verb, which is the head of the phrase
Verb Forms
Verbs can take several different forms
Verbs can also take a variety of inflected forms

works
every day

working
right now

inflected for present tense
e.g. : he likes
to work
from home as often as possible

Auxiliary Verbs
Always precede main verbs within a VP
They indicate wheter the action of the verb is in progress, repitive, or complete

, which is the time when the action occurs (present, past or future)
Is indicated by inflections on verbs, and on auxiliary verbs, or by modal auxiliary verbs like
will
Modal verbs
Are a specific class of auxiliary verbs
Indicate possibility, obligation, ability or neccessity
They include words like
may, might, must, can
and
should
Modals appear before other auxiliary verbs and main verbs in the bare infinitive form
