    - - San Carlos de Bariloche (commonly called Bariloche) is a city in the Patagonia region of Argentina. It limits with Nahuel Huapi, a great glacial lake surrounded by mountains of the Andes. Bariloche is known for its Swiss Alpine-style architecture and its chocolate, which is sold in stores on Mitre Street, the main avenue. It is also a popular base for hiking and skiing in the nearby mountains, and for exploring the surroundings of the Lake District.
  - - - The city was officially founded on May 3, 1902, by decree of the Executive Power of the Nation. In 1909 it already had about 1,250 inhabitants, a telegraph, mail and a road to Neuquén. But they continued to depend on trade with Chile until the arrival of the railroad in 1934.
      - Since the beginning of the 20th century, sightings of what some interpret as a creature living in Lake Nahuel Huapi have been reported. It was called Nahuelito, and the popular belief is that it would be a survivor from the time of the dinosaurs. During the 1920s, Dr. Clemente Onelli organized an expedition in his search, which was unsuccessful.
      - In the early 1970s, the city began a sustained period of growth, in part driven by the construction of the asphalt road connecting Bariloche with Buenos Aires. Today the main supply route of the city is by land transport.
- - - - Heading north, crossing the Limay River, and east along the north shore of Lake N. H., you will reach the picturesque town of Villa La Angostura. Continue along the "7 lakes" where the lakes will continue: Correntoso, Ruca Malén, El Portezuelo, Villarino, Falkner, Hermoso and Meliquina, thus reaching the city of San Martín de los Andes, located on the shores of Lácar Lake.

The cable car takes tourists to the top of the hill where a revolving restaurant is located from its base in the Melipal neighborhood.
