Supervisor meeting notes - 29th June 2020
Discussed how I am still a little ill but on the mend. Kept meeting short as no progress since previous meeting due to illness
Annual review (re-enrolment review)
Kate contacted Emily so she understands that I have been ill recently
Need to get a draft to supervisors ASAP
For most sections, just copy and paste from Major Review; no need to reinvent the wheel!
This presumably includes timelines from major review
Talk about areas I could improve as well
Possibly social media use and public engagement
Find relevant courses in PGR programme
Need to acknowledge that I have already done stuff at Bath for that too though
Mention applying for associate teaching practitioner award, as this would really boost my CV
Return to research form
All of them are sent high up to be approved, and take a while to be completed or resubmitted, so this application needs to be airtight
System needs to be tested with PGR research in particular, and given the limited timeframe of my project I might actually be a priority
Probably easier to get access to RB in near future than it will be to get access to BU labs
Need to closely tie in my risk assessment stuff with RBs own assessments and safety measures
Liaise with Stephen ASAP to understand safety precautions at RB and meet those safety ,easures and BUs
Actually do not need access to BU labs until initial assessment at Bath has been completed! As invasive petrography sampling and pXRF work will only be done after collection has been fully explored and correct permissions applied for
Hefty form on website with lots of different appendices; clearly something to print out and review closely! Will need a new risk assessment completed and approved within department and by upper management
Acknowledged literature review plan needs to be made, and application for HE permissions needs to progress, but work on this only after priorities
Priorities in the next week and a bit are therefore:
Drafting and submitting annual review
Contacting and liaising with Stephen to understand and comply with RB safety measures
Drafting and submitting return to research form
Mentioned presence of FeO discs, perhaps relics of submerged plant root systems, in Bath CBM clays and Beck and Neuport (2009) paper
BU now subscribed to Zoom, but taking a while to upgrade people's memberships
