Performance
Definition: This type of assessment can be used to give the students a chance to show understanding of the content instead of standard question and answer tests.
Journal Entry: Students can complete a quickwrite reflecting on the content taught to demonstrate understanding of the topic.
Recital: Students perform a musical piece taught during class that will show they've learned the correct techniques to play instruments and read music.
Summative
Definition: A summative assessment is high stakes and it's used to evaluate the students' learning at the end of a unit.

Formative
Definition: A formative assessment is low stakes and is used to determine a students' mastery of the content. The information gathered can help adjust future lessons.
Concept Map: Students can complete a concept map to show their understanding of a topic and how each sub-topic relates to each other.
Exit Ticket: Students can complete a math problem at the end of the lesson to demonstrate mastery of the content for the day.
Benchmark
Definition: Benchmark tests the students academic level compared to others in the grade and/or state to verify if they are below, on level, or above.
9-week Summative: Students complete a district level test after each nine weeks to verify their level of mastery of the content during the previous nine weeks.
STAAR: State level exam given to the students at the end of the school year to demonstrate mastery of all content given in each subject for that grade level.
Diagnostic
Definition: Informs teachers of achievement gaps and academic abilities. The test is given before new content is taught.

Pre-Assessment: Students can complete the test over upcoming topics to demonstrate to the teacher what they already may or may not know
