        Leaves vagus and crosses subclavian artery, passes under and ascends to larynx
        
        Left
        
        Leaves vagus and crosses arch of aorta, passes under and ascends on the right
        
        Sensory supply to subglottis and motor supply to all intrinsic muscles of larynx (except cricothyroid)
