Passive and Active reading
Passive reading is when we read the words that we see everyday so we don’t really realize that we are reading the word nor consciously understand the meaning of the word.

Active reading is when you think about what you read to understand the text. We tend to concentrate carefully on the word we are reading.

Reading an interesting novel
Reading the content on an important document
Non-fiction
a writing that contain factual information
Skimming and Scanning
Skimming means reading the text quickly to get the gist of the text.
Scanning is reading in order to get specific detailed information to answer the question.
Distractors means information that is interesting but is not relevant to the question.

Non-fiction writing that informs the reader of factual information about something
Topic sentence is the summary of the whole paragraph. Most of the time it is the first sentence of the paragraph
