- - - - Absorption: mixing of the digested food with bodily fluids
        
        Assimilation: Conversion of the absorbed food into living protoplasm.
        
        Egestion: Removal of the undigested food from the body.
        
        Partly digested food is called chyme
        
        Food which is taken back into the mouths of ruminants after partial digestion is called cud
- - - - Stomach: Bacteria is killed here, it secretes digestive juices and hydrochloric acid (HCl). digestion is half complete.
        
        Liver: It secretes the bile juice to help in the digestion
        
        Pancreas: It secretes digestive enzymes like trypsin, chymotrypsin, pepsin, etc. and many other digestive juices. Using these enzymes the WHOLE PROCESS OF DIGESTION will be completed in the small intestine.
        
        Small intestine: The food is converted into energy and it is absorbed and then assimilated. It has small finger-like projections which help in the absorption of food.
        
        Large intestine: The water is absorbed from the undigested food.
        
        Rectum: stores the undigested food
