The blue color of the leaf represents the Pacific Ocean that surrounds the islands. ... At that time it was known as the Ellice Islands. Another feature of the flag are nine yellow five-pointed stars, which represent nine inhabited islands that are part of Tuvalu.
Designed by Vione Natano, the flag was similar to that of nearby Fiji. The light blue background contained nine yellow stars representing the atolls and islands of the country. The Union Jack canton was symbolic of Tuvalu's links with Britain and other Commonwealth members.
The diets on Tuvalu's nine widely-spread islands varies, but they are all based on seafood, fish meals and local plants, such as taro. Most of the population is concentrated on the Funafuti Island and even though this is very small, the cuisine there is most representative for all the state.

If we have high level guests at a party, the Master Ceremony of the night will announce and open the floor to any guests that who want to dance the fatele to stand up and dance.
Te titi tao is a traditional skirt placed upon another skirt – a titi kaulama – and tops (teuga saka), head garland, armbands, and wristbands continue to be used in performances of the fatele. This is how we decorate ourselves traditionally before we dance the fatele.

The fatele, is performed at community events and to celebrate leaders and other prominent individuals, who came and visit Tuvalu. In any Tuvalu feasting or occasion, gatherings, weddings, birthday party and so forth it’s always end or to be closed the program with the fatele.
