Direct method
Characteristics
Only everyday vocabulary and sentences are taught, through real objects and picture.

The Direct Method, also called Natural Method, was established in Germany and France around 1900.

Advantages
Students can interact in situations such as: shopping,eating at a restaurant, asking directions, making reservations,etc.

They teachers speak in the target language during the whole class, so students can be involved with the language as much as possible.
Procedure
the students open their books on the page where they are instructed and each student reads a sentence from the passage.
The teacher ask students what words they did not know to demonstrate the meaning through a drawing on the board or drawing real.

Drawbacks
At the early stages, the learner lacks the vocabulary to understand these aspects when they are explained in the foreign language.

The teacher has difficulty to explain without recourse to the native language because they students do not understand the class.
