Diseases mind map
Infectious diseases.
Bacteria: a member of a large group of unicellular microorganisms which have cell walls but lack organelles and an organized nucleus, including some which can cause disease.
Macro-organisms: an organism large enough to be seen by the normal unaided human eye — compare microorganism.
Fungi: any of a group of spore-producing organisms feeding on organic matter, including moulds, yeast, mushrooms, and toadstools.
Parasites: an organism that lives in or on an organism of another species (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the other's expense.
Viruses: an infective agent that typically consists of a nucleic acid molecule in a protein coat, is too small to be seen by light microscopy, and is able to multiply only within the living cells of a host.
Protozoans: a single-celled microscopic animal of a group of phyla of the kingdom Protista, such as an amoeba, flagellate, ciliate, or sporozoan.
Pathogens: A bacterium, virus, or other microorganism that can cause disease.
Food preparation: Food preparation includes a set of practices involved in acquiring raw ingredients and transforming them into something ready to be consumed.
Hygiene: conditions or practices conducive to maintaining health and preventing disease, especially through cleanliness.
Vectors: a bacteriophage or plasmid which transfers genetic material into a cell, or from one bacterium to another.
Vaccines: a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease.
