Formative
Kahoot! quiz: The teacher will provide the students with a game pin. The students will utilize their technology such as Chromebooks to respond to teacher-created questions. The teacher can assess the correct/incorrect ratio for the questions.
Think-Ink-Share: The teacher will provide a question for the students regarding the lesson's content. The students will a minute to think how they will response, 2-3 minutes to jot down their response, and lastly they will have 5 minutes to share with a partner or group.
Summative
Final Exams: The students would take a final exam that would address all the concepts that have been taught within the unit.
Research Project: The students would have to create an individual project that reflects what they have learned throughout the unit.
Diagnostic
KWL chart: The students will create a graphic organizer in which they will state "what they know" (K), what they would like to know (W) and what they have learned (L). The teacher can assess the students prior knowledge and make connections to the new instruction.
Running Records: The teacher will have the students read a leveled passage or book and make note of the errors made, the time it took for student to read, and the comprehension of what the student has read. The teacher can assess the students reading level and determine the strategies needed to support the student to progress.
Interim/Benchmark:
Essay: The students would write a personal essay that was in-depth and incorporated the concepts learned throughout the unit.
Chapter test: The teacher is able to assess where the student may need additional support by evaluating the student's understanding of the chapter.
Performance
Act-out: The students will act out a scene from the story/book they are reading and perform for their classmates. The script will have been created by the students .
Poem: The students are required to write a poem utilizing the main concept of the lesson as the "muse". The students will share their poems with their classmates.

A formative assessment is how a teacher can assess a student's learning throughout the instruction. The teacher can determine if a student needs additional support. Formative assessments are flexible in how they do not require the students to take a quiz, the teacher can use a variety of activities.

A summative assessment is how a teacher can assess what a student has learned at the end of a unit. Summative assessments are cumulative and help the teacher determine the student's retention of long-term information.
An interim/benchmark assessment is intended to evaluate where a student is within the learning process as well as determine if the student is on track to perform well on future assessments.

A diagnostic assessment is utilized as a way to determine the student's prior knowledge before beginning a new unit. The teacher uses a diagnostic assessment to determine the strengths and weakness of the students regarding the content. The teacher can adjust the instruction based on the student's needs.

A performance assessment requires the students to perform an action or task to determine their comprehension. The students are given instructions and are to display through their actions. This does not require for any paper or pencil.
