Formative
Definition: Formative Assessments are processes of gathering evidence of student learning throughout a lesson. This happens through high academic feedback and student- teacher interaction. Formative Assessments can be quick and informal.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Benchmarks are periodic testing throughout the school year, usually every 6 weeks.There is little to no academic feedback and student-teacher interaction. These are more formal. Meant to see where students are in their learning.

Summative Assessments:
Definition : Tests given to students at the end of a long chuck of learning to see what students learned in the unit.

Diagnostic
Definition: Pre-assessments used to see where students are in their knowledge and learning of concepts before a new lesson.

Performance
Definition: Assessments where students perform tasks to show their learning of a concept rather than complete a formal test.
