Diagnostic
Definition: a type of pre-assessment that is given to students to know where students stand in a topic and also measures students needs.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: An assessment that is given to students to know what level they stand against a specific mastery level and it shows if they are ready for future exams,

Example: Mock STAAR- State curriculum is used to measured what students know and what they still need to learn.
Formative
Definition: An assessment that is used to get information on what students know. It could be used to formulate re-taught lesson to target the needs of the students.

Example: Pre-test- allows the students to show what they know of a topic, prior to that topic being taught.
Summative
Definition: An assessment that shows if students were able to understand a unit that has been taught.

Example: Final exam- students take an exam that covers the information that was presented in the unit studied.
Performance
Definition: An assessment that requires higher order of thinking skills to apply knowledge and create a product.
