Diagnostic assessments help identify a student's knowledge of a subject, or their skills in a subject. These tests can identify misconceptions before a lesson is taught.
Performance assessments measure a student's knowledge of a concept as they apply it to a task.
Formative assessments are informal assessments that gather evidence of student learning, and are used to adjust instruction and provide feedback to teachers.
Summative assessments are more formal, high quality assessments that measure student performance and knowledge.
Interim assessments are used to determine students projects, and help teachers understand whether students are prepared for future assessments, such as state tests.
