Definition: A test allowing for a student to apply their learned skills to show mastery of a unit.
Scenario and Task: Students are given a scenario with a list of tasks they must complete. These tasks would include applying the learned skills from the unit in which is being tested.
Creating a play: This is common for history in which you would have students share facts and infer how specific people would act and behave.
Definition: An assessment given before a unit or at the beginning of the school year to test student ability and point achievement gaps. These assessments help to guide how the lesson should be set up.
Pre-assessments: Tests given at the beginning of a unit or start of year to help decide student grouping and lesson structure.
KWL Chart: This is what the child knows, whats to know, and learned. The K and W column can be used at the beginning of a lesson to judge where students are with the concept.
Definition: Small comprehension checks utilized throughout a lesson to decide what the next steps should be. Depending on these assessments one may need to reteach or be able to move on.
1 Question Quiz: Simply one practice question used to test students level of the given unit. This can be used in the middle of the lesson before breaking out into groups or at the end of the day to use for planing the next day.
One Sentence Summary: Students are expected to share what they have learned in one sentence. This can then be shared to the class or turned in to the teacher.
Definition: Assessment used at the end of an unit to determine students skill level and mastery.
District Benchmarks: Assessments given by the district that cover multitude of TEKS.
End of Unit Exam or Project: Multiple question exam or project to test student mastery at the end of a unit.
Definition: Tests used to determine what a student knows and how they will do in the future.
STAAR: Texas' standardized test used to assess students at the end of the year in multiple subjects.
AP Exams: Exams given to students in AP classes to determine mastery of the course to allow for college credit.
