Summative
End of Unit Exams: Mastery monitoring to gain knowledge of materials students learned and did not learn.
Midterm Exams: Given in the middle or quarter of the semester to measure students grasp of information and assess areas that need work.
Definition: Method of evaluation at the end of a unit to measure students understanding against standardized criteria.
Diagnostic
Pre-Tests & Post Tests: To have understanding of what the students know before and after the lesson.
Running Records: Teachers examine children's oral reading skills, their comprehension and determine reading levels.
Definition: Form of pre-assessment teachers use to evaluate students strengths, weaknesses. knowledge and skills before and after instruction.
Performance

Debates: Teaches students viewpoints and opinions. Students can use debates in classroom as a judge, judging panel and courtroom representation.
Definition: Students perform tasks rather than answer questions. Students performance are based off a rubric assessment.
Formative
Classroom Polls: Students take a poll at the end of the lesson, Understood, Need more Practice, Did not understand. By using classroom polls the teacher will know if the lesson needs to be retaught to the students.
Exit Tickets: A way to gather student understanding at the end of a lesson. Teachers can have a question from the lesson to see if students understand how to solve or answer the question.
