Formative
Formative Assessments allow youth quickly gauge student learning by modifying and adjusting instruction when needed. These Assessments are done throughout the lesson and at the end, they are often not taken for a grade.

Think, Pair, Share allows students to collaborate with one another it helps to check for understanding, as well as build on what they know by adding what a neighbor took from the lesson.
Summative
Summative Assessments are used at the end of units, to asses full understanding of the content, they are taken as a grade.
Quiz An end of unit quiz can be given to show understanding of the content area, and unit over a period of time.
Project A project can be done to show understanding in a hands-on way. With criteria and information that needs to be included or portrayed. This can be done over a unit as well.
Interim/Benchmark
Interim and benchmarks are used to see the continued growth of students, these help to show where students should be in their learning.
CDB testing, done in the beginning of the year, as a branch mark to show where students are and what they have retained.
STAAR testing is done at the end of the year, to show how student shave progressed and retained the from the year.
Diagnostic
Diagnostics are used a a pre assessment to better understand where your students sit, and what information they already know about a topic.
Survey a survey can be done whole group, simply by the students raising their hand in response to the question. this is a way you can see what you're student might have knowledge on.
K.W.L Chart is a pre assessment resource you can use before any lesson. this allows you to have a written idea on what your student know, want to know, and what they learned.
Performance
Performace assessments are done in the style of a student perming a task or activity, rather than taking a pencil and paper test.
Debates Students can debate and discuss a topic to show understanding of the content in a logical and meaningful way.
Acting It Out students can act out a scene in history or act out a food chain to show understanding got the content, as well as recite back the information learned,
