Formative
Definition: Is a type of assessment that is used to gather student evidence to help teachers adjust instruction strategies to enhance achievement.
Examples: Quick-Write, Homework, Exit tickets and Surveys.

Summative
Definition: Are used to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit. They are often high stake which means they have a high point value.
Examples: Midterm Exam, A final project and research projects.

Diagnostic
Definition: Is a type of pre-assessment that provides a teacher with a information on students strengths, hot spots, knowledge and skills prior to the lesson.
