Mechanical properties
Hardness
Soft: yielding readily to touch or pressure; easily penetrated, divided, or changed in shape; not hard or stiff. 
Hard: not soft; solid and firm to the touch; unyielding to pressure and impenetrable or almost impenetrable.
Toughness and fragility
Tough: strong and durable; not easily broken or cut.
Fragile (brittle): easily broken, shattered, or damaged; delicate; brittle; frail.
Elasticity
Rigid: stiff or unyielding; not pliant or flexible; hard
Elastic: capable of returning to its original length, shape, etc., after being stretched, deformed, compressed, or expanded
