Justify what you should do if you see someone using a piece of lab equipment wrong. Give reasoning for your answer.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Assessments that are given at different intervals or periodically to establish baseline achievement data that measures academic achievement and goals.
STAR Test: A test that is given towards the end of the year based on subject and grade level. It is a Texas Standardized test that is given to assess the students academic growth and achievement.
Benchmark Test: Test the are given out so that teachers know where the students are in their learning. The test scores give data to the teachers to see what areas they need to revisit and where each students needs are.
Formative
Definition: An assessment described to test what the students know while they are still learning the content
Think-Pair-Share: The teacher gives the students a prompt. The students write down their answers and get to pairs to discuses their answers and their reasoning.
Four Corners: The teacher plans multiple choice questions that have four answers. First the students gather in the middle of the classroom and the teacher reads the questions and the answers. Students then move to the corner that they believe best represents the answer to the question.
Summative
Definition: Assessments that are given at the end of a unit or course. It is a formal way to see if the students understood the overall performance and range of skills that were taught.
Structured Essay: A prompt the teacher gives the students to write about. It is to cover what they have learned in the unit as well as the students thoughts and input. It is designed to see the students understanding and knowledge of what was taught..
End of Unit Test: It is to assess what the students learned after the content was taught. The test use standardized questions that covered the topic that was taught.
Diagnostic
Definition: Assessments that are given prior to the lesson. The information that is received helps teachers build their lesson plans based off the students strengths, weakness, knowledge, and skills. .
Pre-Test: a short test that is given to the students where each questions is aligned towards a teaching standard or goal. The test should be quick and informal to see what the students know and what they don't.
KWL Chart: A chart that allows the students to write down what they know about the subject and what they want to know about it. This helps the teacher see any misconceptions and what she needs to focus on. After the content is presented they write what they learned
Performance
Definition: Assessments that measures the students ability to apply the skills and content that was learned. This usually is higher level thinking and gives the students a chance to be creative.
Book Reports: Students read a book and then using a rubric the teacher provides, the student creates and analyzes what they read. The use their literacy skills and their comprehension of the book to help them through the project.
Multimedia Presentation: This helps the students create, speak, read, and use technology over the content that is being or was learned. It can be designed however the teacher likes but usually rubrics are involved to help guide the students through the project.
