- - - - In the film the media made him seem as thouh it was his fault he was killed and they focous on the fact he was a possible drug dealer. the main concern was thta Kahlil was a drug dealer not the fact he was innocently killed.
  - - - Police officers act differently towards black people then they do towards white people.
    - - We see Starr’s uncle, a black police officer explain the way they think when dealing with black and white people. A statement made was that if they thought a black person had a weapon they would shoot at them but if it was a white person they would tell them to put their hands up.
        
        This statement comes from a black officer, who knows how the black people are treated and he believes it too, it shows the injustices within the legal system and what they are thought is wrong.
- - - - Khalil is innocently killed because the police officer was afraid of him from the start when he was pulled over. Khalil had a hairbrush in his hand but the officer assumed it was a gun because if the colour of his skin.
- - - - At the beginning of the film Starr talks about her community is where he people are and this is their identity
  - - - At the end of the film see says there is now only one version of herself and she is proud to be who she is, she doesn’t have to change for anyone and that’s it who she is.
