EIL teaching materials should support and promote the development of awareness along with sensitivity towards differences in forms, uses and users.

Teaching materials express a certain view of the world.
The role of materials in EIL is to incorporate linguistic and cultural diversity.
Criteria for Evaluating teaching materials.
Varieties of English represented in teaching material should match the focus of the course.
Adequate exposure to other varieties of English must be provided and raise enough awareness about the linguistic diversity of English.
Materials should represent a variety of speakers to involve the process of ownership.
The sources of cultutal content of the materials are global culture, the culture of future interlocutors and learner's own culture.
