Valleys and Gorges
V-Shaped valleys
V-shaped valleys are formed from rivers eroding and breaking down the bank of the river forming a valley in the shape of a V
-
-
The faster the river the faster the breakdown. This means that certain V shaped valleys can be somewhat unstable
-
Gorges
Gorges can be formed through long term erosion from a river. these gorges can become enormous, spanning 100s of meters in depth and many more in width and are usually formed over thousand of years
Whilst gorges can be a little unstable, their structure is normally somewhat strong
