People have computers
Parts of a computer's brain
Hard disk / Storage
Processor + Ram
Used to store data, play games, surf the web etc.
Used to host apps like web browser, microsoft word etc.
Companies have datacenters (private clouds) or use public clouds
A datacenter is like a really big and powerful computer that is managed by the IT admin team of a company
Just like a computer it has:
CPU + memory
Storage
In the datacenter world:
CPU + Memory = servers
Storage = lots of hard disks working together
At some point in time people decided to create virtual versions of all of this.
You can take a large computer and make it seem like it's 500 regular computers and have 500 people use it instead of few people.
This is what people use in offices like banks or in libraries etc.
In the virtual world;
Servers = virtual machines (like a virtual computer)
Storage =
virtual disks / volumes / block storage / databases / file servers / object stores
Object stores are used to store things like images, videos, music files etc.
One example of an Object store is 'Nutanix Objects': a product created by Nutanix
Object stores have 3 main components:
Object store server or just object store. This is like C drive or D drive.
Buckets within the object store. These are like folders on your computer.
Objects within each bucket. These are like files within folders.

A public cloud is a datacenter managed by a different company like Amazon, Google or Nutanix.
