3.2.3 ALCOHOL & SUBSTANCES ABUSE
Substances dependence
Craving: Strong desire to engage in a behavior or consume a substance.
Addiction: Person becomes physically or psychologically dependent on a substance following repeated use over time
Tolerance: Body increasingly adapts to the use of a substance. Require larger and larger doses to maintain same effects before the body reached plateau
Withdrawal: Unpleasant symptoms experienced by people when they stop using the dependent substance
Physical dependence: Body adjusts to the substance.
