Pathphysiology
Glaucoma:damaged optic nerve caused by abnormally high pressure in the eye
Cataracts: develops with aging or injury to tissue that makes up your eye's lens.
Retinal Detatchment: the retina pulls away from its normal position
Macular Degneration: caused by deterioration of the retina
Symptoms
Glaucoma:patchy blind spots, tunnel vision,severe headache, eye pain, nausea, halos, eye redness, vomiting
Retinal Detatchment: floaters,blurred vision,photopsia, reduced peripheral vision, shadow over your vision field
Cataracts: clouded blurred vision, sensitivity to light or night vision, halos, fading yellowing of color, double vision in 1 eye
Macular Degeneration: visual distortion, reduced central vision, blurriness,
Risk factors
Retinal Detatchment:aging, family history, previous eye surgery or injury, eye disease or disorder
Macular Degeneration:Age,race,smoking,obesity, cardiovascular disease
Glaucoma:African America, Irish, Russian, Hispanic, over 40, poor vision,diabetes, genetics, steroid meds, high eye pressure,
