INTERRELASIONSHIPS 4 CARMEN
Organism
Is a simple living thing
Population
A group of organisms belonging to the same species
Community
All the populations of different species that live in the same area
Ecosystem
Made of biotic and abiotic factors in and area
NUTRITION IN ANIMALS
Carnivores
Carnivores eat other animals.
Eagles, wolves, tigers, sharks and spiders are carnivores.
OMNIVORES
Omnivores eat food of plant and animal origin.
Wild boars, pigs, bears and chickens are omnivores.
Human beings are omnivores too.
Hervivore
Herbivores eat plants.
Deer, rabbits and grasshoppers are herbivores.
SCAVENGERS
Scavengers are a type of carnivore. They feed on dead animals.
Vultures, hyenas and some beetles are scavengers.
DECOMPOSERS
Decomposers feed on decaying plant and animal matter.
Pill bugs, earthworms and other small animals are decomposers.
Food chaing
What is a food chain??
Is the wheel of the animals eat to the others or make their own food.
Types
sunlight:The sun's makes life possible on earth.Plants use the energy in sunlight to make food. This energy starts to pass along the food chain when an animal eats the plant.
Producers:Grasses are producers wich means that they make their own food with the help of sunligh. The do this with the photosynthesis.
Primary consumer:The primary consumers are the animals that eat (consume) grass and other plant matter .
Secondary consumers:this are the animals that feed on other animals such as lions.
Decomposers:some decomposers feed on dead animals and plants others they feed on undigested food of the animals.
Relationships among living things:Living things in an ecosystem interact with each other in many ways. Depending on the type of interaction there are diferent types of relationships.
Predation
An individual of one species, a predator, hunts and kills its prey, an individual
Symbiosis
Symbiosis is the interaction between two or more different organisms living in close association, usually to the advantage of both organisms.
The association may be permanent,or it may be long lasting.
A lichen is formed by an algae and a fungus. The algae provides nutrients through photosyntes. The fungus provides shelter for the algae.
Competition
Is the relationship between different species that have the same needs.
Squirrels and dormice compete for shelters in tree holes. They both compete to survive and neither benefits.
Mutualism
Is the relationship between to individuals of diferent species when both benefit.Egyptian plovers feed on the remains of food from the teeth of crocodiles.
Comensalism
Is the relationship between two species when one benefits and other remains unaffected. Many birds build their nests in the branches of trees
Parasitism
Is the relationship between two species when one benefits and other suffers. The species that benefits is called a parasite.
The hoof fungus, like many other fungi is a parasit of plants.
