Chapter 6,7,8 Concept Map
Probability is the outcome that is represented as a fraction of all the outcomes.
percentile rank is the percentage of different individuals in the set that's less or equal to the score.
percentile is the score represented by the percentile rank.
A random sample is when each object has an opportunity to be selected.
uses the process simple random sample
independent random sample is when the objects have an equal opportunity, but the probability stays constant also
Sampling with replacement is when you have to return the object back to the sample to get the sample correct.
Unit normal table is a table that is used to list different proportions that matches with each z-score.
Binomial distribution is when the probability is shown from different values.
Sampling error is the number of errors between the sample statistic and the population parameter.
distribution of sample means is the gathering of the means from the sample for all the possible samples of a size.
a sampling distribution is a distribution of statistics by selecting all the possible samples.
the central limit theorem gives the specifies of the distribution of sample means.
expected value of M is when the mean of the distribution of sample is equal.
Standard error of M gives a measure of how much distance is between M and u.
Law of large numbers says the larger the sample size, the closer it is to the mean of the population.
Hypothesis test is when the data is used to come up with an hypothesis about a population.
alternative hypothesis says there is a change, a difference, or a relation.
null hypothesis is when there is no change, no difference, or relation.
test statistic is used to show whether or not the data is in the critical region.
Type 1 error is when the null hypothesis is rejected, but its true.
alpha level is the probability it will go to a type 1 error.
type ll error is when the null hypothesis isn't rejected, but its actually false.
one-tailed test is when the hypotheses increase or decrease in the population mean.
