I have no idea what data should I bring but this is a question I am interested in. In my opinion, the difference of skin color is just a visible fact, therefore, calling black American or yellow American is not as rude as calling African American or Asian American. I feel weird even they are born and raised in the USA, they are called with where their ancestors come from. If they call colored people in that way, why they do not call white people, European American. The European Americans are also immigrants for the Native American.
