St John is egotistical believing that his work makes him a saint and tries to force Jane to become a missionary
Jane cannot understand how Helen Burns can easily forgive people and accept abuse because Helen sees it as God's wish
Jane remains religious, rejecting the views of others and having an enlightened view on it

Due to Jane's lack of money people view her as inferior, such as the Reeds, Blanche Ingram etc.
Jane is happy to marry Mr Rochester once she is financially independent because she will no longer be reliant upon him/his inferior
Mrs Fairfax does not approve of Jane and Mr Rochester getting married because they are not in the same social class
