Z Score (standard score) is use the mean as a reference point to determine whether the score is above or below average. To find a z-score you use the mean and standard deviation to transform X value.
- Each z-score can find the original X value within the distribution. 2. Z scores for standard distribution that can be directly compared to other distributions that have also been transformed into Z-scores.
The sign of the z-score (+/-) denotes the distance between score and the mean. By counting the standard deviations b/w the X and the mean, the numerical value of the z-score specifies the distance from the mean.
