CHARACTERISTICS
painless, slow-growing, soft, doughy, midline mass, primarily in the floor of the mouth. cause the tongue to be displaced superiorly and posteriorly, or it can be located inferior to the muscle and appear as a swelling in the midline of the neck
DENTAL IMPLICATIONS
If this lesion is located in the floor of the mouth, it can impair chewing, swallowing, and speaking. Patients may present with this as a reason for seeking dental care.
TREATMENT/PROGNOSIS
Treatment is surgical excision.
