Predisposing factors
etiology
Fungal infection of the oral cavity mostly caused by
Candida albicans
C albicans
is a commensal organism in the oral cavity of healthy persons.
C. albicans
is of weak pathogenicity, thereby reflecting the necessity for local or systemic predisposing factor to produce a disease state.
Infection with this organism is usually superficial oral mucosa.

prognosis
Prognosis of Acute and Chronic candidiasis is excellent
epidemiology
Found in infants and elderly, this rate of carriage has been shown to increase with age.
Found in female more than male.
clinical features
Creamy white plaques
curdled millk
Burning sensasion and foul taste
Buccal mucosa is frequently affected follow by tongue and palate
Histopathology
Fungal hyphae are seen penetrating the upper layers of the epithelium
Neutrophilic infiltration of the epithelium with superficial microabscess formation
